FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Some question you might be asking yourself

Who can benefit from hemp products?

We all can, even the environment benefits. Hemp seed oil boasts a comedogenic rating of zero and does not clog pores and balances the skin's sebum production, its perfect for skincare. It's also packed full of essential nutrients like Omega 3, 6, and 9, antioxidants, Vitamin E, carotene, phospholipids and phytosterol minerals including potassium, magnesium, phosphorous and calcium. It provides excellent benefits for our overall health, both internally and externally.

Hemp protein & hemp seeds are a complete protein (Super Food), meaning they contain an adequate proportion of the 9 essential amino acids necessary in the human diet. They can help lower your risk of cardiovascular disease, cancer, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol. As mentioned above hemp contains Omega 6 (linoleic acid) & tocopherols, or compounds that naturally help to lower the risk of cardiovascular diseases.

Hemp fibres use in textiles and building materials are a sustainable alternative to traditional materials. It uses a fraction of the water needed to grow cotton, every part is useful and it absorbs more carbon dioxide per hectare than other crops and most trees. The plant grows without the need for harmful herbicides and pesticides, and hemp's deep roots also prevent soil erosion and help restore soil health.

Is hemp oil safe to use on all skin types?

Hemp-based skincare products are typically suitable for a wide range of skin types, but they can be particularly beneficial for individuals with sensitive skin. If you happen to have sensitive skin, you might find that hemp-based products are your ideal skincare companions. It is often recommended by dermatologists as an alternative solution for acne, psoriasis, eczema, and atopic dermatitis as it promotes the growth of new healthy skin cells.

As with anything you apply topically, there's always the chance you'll have an allergic reaction to it. It is wise to conduct a sensitivity or allergic reaction patch test, before applying new products to your face and body. Apply the product onto a small section of the skin that is less prone to be accidentally washed or rubbed away. Suitable areas for this test may include the inner arm or the bend of the elbow. Wait for 24 hours and see if any allergic reaction is there. If not, you can use that oil liberally.

Wont using a hemp oil clog my skin pores?

Hemp seed oil is non-comedogenic, which means that it will not clog pores. Ingredients used in skincare are typically rated for the level which they will contribute to pore-clogging, called a Comedogenic Scale. The range is from 0-5, with 0 representing an ingredient which will not clog pores whatsoever, while 5 signifies an ingredient that is highly pore-clogging.

Hemp seed oil earns a perfect score of 0 on the Comedogenic Scale, signifying its entirely non-comedogenic in nature. It is a safe choice even for individuals dealing with acne blemishes and excessive oiliness, as it won't block pores.  Wheatgerm oil is an example of a level 5 on the scale- those with breakout-prone skin should avoid products with wheatgerm oil for the face, neck or chest areas, as it is likely to contribute to future breakouts and acne flare-ups. A little more information on face and body oils can be found here.
